Beginning Again… and… Again

Beginning Again… and… Again

Every year it seems like I am proclaiming that I’m going to begin again and do life, love, and happiness the right way, this time around. I’m there again, only this time, life literally knocked me down and I had to make a choice to live or die.

So on that note, family, friends, and advocates of wellness, I’m on this journey, once again, to a better way of life. I had to take a detour due to surgery earlier this year, but I’m bouncing back. Healthy living is the goal and accountability is the way.

So, if you see me talking about food that I shouldn’t have, call me out. It’s all good, I can take it, openly.

I have a mission to not only live a better life mentally, spiritually, and physically…but I was in a wedding in July and I had to buy a different one because I didn’t meet my goal. I thought I would start my journey, again, September 4, 2018… Everyone who knows me knows that I have a touch of OCD, so beginning on September 4th was a step towards change because I am one who usually believes everything should begin on the 1st or 15th.

For me, when it comes to eating, it’s not that I don’t (most times), it’s that my combinations, number of times I eat throughout the day, and emotional contributions tend to collide.

You can eat veggies every time you eat, but if you aren’t spacing your nutrition intake correctly, it can have a negative effect. In my case, I don’t eat enough f the right thing all the time. Even though I feel like I’m eating 3,000 calories, at the end of the day, it’s nowhere near what I should be eating.

The nutritionist hears my complaints that it makes no sense…while the whole time they’re shrugging, shaking their heads, knowing that I can’t make them come up with a better excuse to join my whining and complaining.
But, the body is amazing; you’d think that not eating enough will help you lose weight when in essence, it makes you gain.

Every body is different so seeking professional help isn’t taboo, it’s necessary. Now exercising…that’s another thing. I haven’t had time, but those trips to the ICU have made me realize that I have to make more time for my body and take it more seriously.

Getting older is no joke. I feel and hear every part of my body now and going through menopause doesn’t make it better. Thank you to my people who are contributors to the keepin’ it real portion of my journey to wellness.

Over the last several months, they have unintentionally – intentionally expressed concern, and I’m thankful (my baby sisters Rita and Risa, Rita, Howard, Tondaleya, Brandy, Andrea, Velda, Shearon, Sharron Lynn, Patty Gale, Penelope) and others.

I am completely grateful for my grade-school best of friends, best spades partner ever, my home-girl, Ms. Angela Malone Shorter, who will also keep me in check.
I love you all!

Here goes… something!

It’s time for change… now or never… despite obstacles, especially those in the mind.

Change is choice and it begins with me.

Scripture of the Day:
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. ~1 Corinthians 6:19-20
